Singing As Self-Care. A Moment to Tune in With Yourself
Hello!
It’s been a while, and honestly, I’m not quite sure where to begin when it comes to everything that’s happened since my last blog post. Long story short: I came down with a terrible flu at the end of February. After that, I lost my voice - not just once, but three times. I went through doctor visits, treatments, and vocal rehab.
Thankfully, I recovered just in time to fly to Los Angeles, where I’ve been recording a new project. Since returning home to London, I’ve been catching up on all the sessions I had to postpone in March.
That said, here I am - still doing some vocal rehab, but finally back to a more regular routine. I’ll share more details about what happened to my voice in my next blog post, as I think it’s a story worth telling, especially since this space is all about the connection between singing and wellness.
I’m really looking forward to hosting another workshop soon! I’ve been preparing ideas and themes this week, and I’m excited to introduce a new offering called “Singing As Self-Care.” This workshop will once again focus on how singing can be used as a tool to support our well-being.
Singing As Self-Care – NEW WORKSHOP 12th of June
This workshop is not just about technique - it’s also an invitation to pause and really listen in. Singing gives us a moment to check in with how we’re actually feeling, to connect with our authenticity, and to reflect on what’s truly important to us. It’s a way of tuning in to our inner voice, not just the one we use to sing, but the one that guides us from within.
The workshop will include:
* A gentle vocal warm-up
* An introduction to vocal massage
* Breathwork & Emotional Check-In
* Mindful singing technique exercises
* Voice care for singers
* A short Q&A session with me at the end
I want to offer this workshop for free, as I’ve recently been reminded - through my own experience - of just how closely our wellness and vocal health are connected. When life gets busy and rest is in short supply, it inevitably shows up in the body. Whether it’s your voice, neck, shoulders, or back - stress tends to manifest physically, and all of these areas are connected to our vocal system.
Self-care is about slowing down and giving yourself permission to simply be - to take a break from all the constant doing. The being is just as important. And through singing, this can become a joyful and restorative practice where you not only care for yourself, but also discover and strengthen your voice.
Whether you’re new to singing or simply looking for a fresh way to reconnect with yourself, I’d love for you to join me. You can sign up to the workshop here.
Until then, take care and always… keep singing
With love
